If there’s one device that can appease the most hardcore technology freak, it would be iPad 2. Since iPad begun shipping since April last year, it has sent fans into frenzy mode seeing the web, email and photos like never before. Among the factors contributing to its massive success is its affordable price tag starting from $499, weigh less than most laptops and netbooks, turns on instantly and the ability to run 10 hours unplugged. In fact, everyone was talking bout the iPad last year because competition was almost non-existant. Just for your information, Apple has sold 15 million iPads in less than a year!
Well, fast forward in year 2011, we see a completely different story as manufacturers like Motorola, Samsung and HP have begun introducing their revolutionary tablet devices. Having said that, what does the heavily anticipated successor to the wildly popular iPad, the iPad 2 have in store to fend of its enemies? For starters, iPad 2 is rumored to be thinner and lighter than its predecessor…and we all know the iPad is already one of the lightest tablets out there at merely 0.68kg.

iPad 2 reportedly will come with a dual core processor, a better screen with “anti-reflection” to deliver a better experience in bright sunlight, more RAM and storage, more powerful graphics processor, probably a back facing camera and a front facing camera to bring the FaceTime video calling feature on the tablet. The tablet will run on both GSM and CDMA networks. The new iOS tablet will support Verizon Wireless and AT&T networks, but not Sprint and T-Mobile USA networks. The iPad 2′s display resolution should be unchanged, however, as an iPad 3 is said to deliver an improvement in that aspect sometime next year.
With then intention to capture the consumer and business tablets markets, the new iOS tablet’s mission is to compete head on with Motorola’s highly-touted Xoom which has just gone on sale as well as Galaxy Tab 10.1, a larger version of Samsung’s original 7 inch tablet which will ship in some markets in June. Both of these tablets run on Android 3.0 (Honeycomb). So your hands are getting itchy, can’t wait to get the latest iPad 2? Well, the good news is it will be officially unveiled on March 2, just over a week from now (although shipping will most likely be delayed to June)
