Sony Ericsson Sales Decline in Q1 2011

Sony Ericsson has released a sales report for the first quarter of 2011. In a report released yesterday (04/19/2011) looks a decrease in the number of points. Of the total mobile phone units shipped decreased 23 percent compared to first quarter of 2010 at 8.1 million euro figure. Reportedly this happens due to decline in the number of mobile phone features and the introduction of new products. Total sales in this quarter also declined by 19 percent over the first quarter of 2010 on the number of 1.145 million Euros. While the statement of cash flows from operating activities minus 353 million euros, bringing the total cash as of March 31 last amounted to 599 million Euro.

But not all the points has decreased, the average selling price of mobile phones increased by 5 percent compared to first quarter last year. This increase occurred due to product mix and geographical conditions exceeds the equilibrium price erosion. Total gross revenue also increased 2 percent compared to first quarter last year. Overall, Sony Ericsson still has its advantages. "Our profitability continues to increase after the switch to Android-based smartphone, the contribution of smartphones reached 60 percent in total sales during this quarter," said Bert Nordberg, President and CEO of Sony Ericsson. Nordberg also mentions the effect of the earthquake in Japan last March was an impact on operational and supply chain components.
